Paris, deuxième partie m4w You are asleep. The morning sounds of traffic filter their way through the window and rays of sun dance on the bed as the curtain billows slightly in the breeze. The smell of coffee and fresh bread make a brief appearance and are gone. You are still where you turned a few hours ago; your head burrowed into a huge feather pillow and left arm half draped across my chest. With purpose I turn my body slightly and your arm slowly slides off and drops to the sheets. You are still, so I continue my turn and land with a soft thump on the floor. Padding to the bathroom, I slip on my jeans and t-shirt and grab my ball cap. In 30 seconds I'm out the door and in 90 in the lobby. The hotel we are staying at is swank, and is already bustling this morning with what appear to be mostly Europeans. They give a quick once over to the bushy American in their midst, but I could care less. I'm on a mission. Within 10 minutes I'm back in our room, the Herald under my arm, and two cups of fresh coffee and a bag of pastries in tow. A pigeon ruffles and leaps to the air as I open our balcony doors and Paris streams in to the room properly now. Finally, at long last, you stir. The sheets whisper as you move your legs under them and then are quiet again. I come over and sit on the edge of the bed, and take you in. You are beautiful. Your lips, lipstick now gone (me suddenly realizing it is likely smeared across some portion of my neck and face) is not missed at all by your full lips. A stray lock of your silky dark hair lays across your face now, and I dance my finger across your forehead to coax it back with the others on the pillow. Your eyes open, focus, and then slowly you smile, and whisper 'good morning'. My God. You. Are. Beautiful. I lean in, your perfume from yesterday is still powdery sweet, to kiss you. And suddenly, jarringly, just as our lips touch, everything shimmers and is gone. This is the purpose to which I now move. To know you. To grow to be in love with you. To take you to Paris. To bring you coffee. To see your sweet, beautiful smile when I wake you. I pray that you are here, reading this, hearing me, moving with me. Sleep well my love. Sleep well. Paris awaits.
